“Managers must motivate and control the employees”. So thinks the command and control manager.
When people have control of their work, pride returns.
How can people take control of their work? Three conditions are necessary:
1 Clarity of purpose – what are they in business to do?
2 Measures which relate to purpose – how well are they doing?
3 Freedom to experiment with method – are there better ways of doing things?
Pride is a natural consequence of being responsible for one’s own learning.
