How can people take control of their work? Three conditions are necessary:

1 Clarity of purpose – what are they in business to do?

2 Measures which relate to purpose – how well are they doing?

3 Freedom to experiment with method – are there better ways of doing things?

Pride is a natural consequence of being responsible for one’s own learning.
